Marco’s Pizza has already closed and Family Video will follow in mid-January [Jan.16]. The space will be leased by Dollar General through Highland Ventures, Ltd., which operates Family Video. Highland Ventures, Ltd. is also the largest franchisee of Marco’s Pizza.

Family Video inventory will be sold and is currently available for purchase.

The same situation occurred in Wisconsin Rapids this summer. A Dollar General opened in July in the former Family Video and Marco’s Pizza space.

It’s also not the first time Dollar General has operated in Marshfield. The store previously operated in Shopko Plaza from 2004 until 2007, said a store spokesperson.

The company is finalizing its “due diligence phase” for the new location and anticipates construction to begin in the next several weeks. The store will employ 6-10 employees depending on the needs of the location. Positions can be applied for on the Dollar General website.

Since the store serves customers within a 3-5 miles radius, or a 10-minute drive, it looks to choose locations convenient for shoppers while taking into account factors such as traffic patterns and community concerns, the spokesperson said.

Dollar General sells a variety of items including foods, cleaning supplies and housewares, beauty products, and seasonal items.
