MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Common Council will hear a proposal to remove “No Firearms” signs posted at the entrances at Marshfield City Hall.

Ultimately, removing the signs would allow for conceal carry in the City Hall building. At the meeting, the council will be hearing this topic for discussion but it will not yet be voted on.

The proposal was also brought to the council two years ago in an e-mail questioning the city’s posting of the signs.

City Administrator Steve Barg will present the proposal to the council and said in 2019 he conducted a survey of the City Hall staff and the results were “somewhat inconclusive.”

The vote during the discussion went 5-4 in favor of keeping the signs posted.

At the 2019 discussion, council members Witzel, Fischer, Spiros and Buttke voted to approve the removal of the signs.
