Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Discolored water may occur Tuesday morning (Aug. 13) starting 9 a.m. in the north-central areas of Marshfield due to the testing of fire protection equipment by a local business.

The discoloration is caused by the natural accumulation of iron in the water system. The water is safe, but may stain clothing. Marshfield Utilities advises homeowners to avoid washing clothes in the morning.

Discoloration can be cleared up by running cold water through the faucet for several minutes or until clear. If the water has not cleared after this time, contact Marshfield Utilities at 715-387-1195.
