D.C. Everest and Newman to Host Fundraiser for The Neighbor’s Place

D.C. Everest hosts Newman Catholic in a fundraiser for The Neighbor’s Place, on October  12 at Everest High School.

“The event was started by parents and organizational leaders as a way to raise awareness to the needs of those less fortunate in our Community. Our athletes in our volleyball programs are very fortunate to have support from family, friends, coaches, and their school,” explained D.C. Everest Head Coach Tina Prahl.

The Neighbors’ Place (TNP) is a homegrown community center providing a hand up to residents of Marathon County and the surrounding communities. Their mission is a simple one: to be “People Helping People. TNP provides the following programs and services (free of charge) to those who need them; Food Bank & Food Pantry, TNP Gardens, Community Learning Center, Furniture & Basic Needs Bank and Neighborhood Outreach,” Prahl added.

“These programs are possible because our community cares. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals share their time, talent, and treasure. This event is being planned to assist TNP in their mission,” Prahl shared.

“Raising the awareness to help those less fortunate in our community. We take the athletes to the Neighbor’s Place to deliver the donations and it is very eye opening to some of them on how people struggle to have their basic needs met daily,” Prahl further explained. “Through our ability to reach a larger audience, we can bring support for a great cause and the athletes are able to see the value of Community. “People helping People.” These are life lessons that extend beyond the volleyball court to make them better people as they enter the community as a productive member in society.”

“We are incredibly grateful to be involved in this community event, to be able to give to such a worthy organization that helps make life a little easier for some,” explained Newman Head Coach Betty Lange. “And we agree and are on board with using this event to educate and make others aware, to expand grow their mission of “People helping People” throughout our communities.   We hope to raise enough to fund their needs for a long time!”
