Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshfield to Host Backpack Blessing

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – On Sunday, September 12, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (GSLC) invites children and adults to bring their backpacks to the 9:00am worship service for a special blessing as the new school year begins.

“We want to offer God’s blessings and care as you use them for school and work and recreation,” said Interim Pastor Steve Rutter. “Any person with a backpack is encouraged to join us.”

GSLC Sunday School will be giving a keychain and cross to attach to each of the backpacks and offering a prayer of God’s blessings to all in their travels and activities.

“Everyone in the community is welcome to attend,” said Rutter. “This is something new we’re doing this year and we hope anyone using a backpack attends to receive a blessing – whether it’s for the upcoming school year, someone taking a backpack on an upcoming hike or trip, or simply a backpack used day-to-day for work.”

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is an ELCA church located at 502 W McMillan Street in Marshfield. Worship is held every Sunday at 9:00am.
