Columbus Catholic boys basketball tops Gilman, wins seventh in a row

GILMAN – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team won its seventh-straight game, beating Gilman 79-35 on Monday night at Gilman High School.

The Dons are now 17-1 overall and 13-0 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division. Gilman falls to 9-7 and 6-5 in conference play.

Columbus led 41-24 at halftime and put the game away by holding the Pirates to 11 points in the second half.

Bryce Fuerlinger scored 20 points, Jarred Mandel added 18 points and Ethan Meece had 14 for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic will play at Greenwood on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m. The game was postponed from Tuesday with the pending snowstorm. If the Dons win, they would clinch at least a share of their fourth-straight Cloverbelt East championship.
