Columbus Catholic baseball shut out at Loyal

LOYAL – Maverick Roehl and Trevyn Wilke combined on a four-hit shutout as the Loyal baseball team blanked Marshfield Columbus Catholic 10-0 in six innings on Monday at Loyal High School.

Loyal scored in five of its six at-bats, finishing off the game via the 10-run rule with a run in the sixth.

Roehl allowed four hits and one walk in five strong innings, striking out 10 and earning the win. Wilke pitched the sixth with two strikeouts.

Wilke and Ethan Weinfurtner each had two hits, with Weinfurtner driving in three runs for the Greyounds.

Noah Taylor has two of Columbus’ four hits in the loss.

Loyal is now 4-5 overall and 4-3 in Cloverbelt Conference East Division play, and will be back in action Thursday at home against Owen-Withee.

Columbus Catholic (0-3, 0-2 Cloverbelt East) hosts Neillsville at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field in Marshfield.
