City Communicates OnFocus – The Board of Public Works approved a trial run for this summer to place planters along the median strip of South Central Ave.

“When I brought to the committee the Pedestrian Safety Study, there were many recommendations. One of those was to have some of those larger planters taken from the side streets and moved to the median of South Central Ave,” said Steve Barg, City Administrator. “Three of them on the 200 block, three of them on the 300 block, and two of them on the 400 block. There is a driveway to the old Book World that one would be an obstruction to.”

“I am thinking if we try it for one year as an experiment, we can either get some good compliments or other reactions,” added Barg.

The committee approved a motion to have a one-year trial on placing the planters in the median, and to review the effects in October.
