Press release –

Marshfield – Riiser Fuels Holdings, LLC today announced they have made another acquisition in Wisconsin with the purchase of eight convenience stores of Baltus Oil Company.

Baltus Oil Company can be traced back to 1927, when it began as a single gas station. Over the years the company transformed itself from that one single store to a company with eight convenience stores and a wholesale fuel distribution business and heating oil.

John Baltus and his brothers became third generation marketers when they joined their father Vern in the business in the eighties. John became President of Baltus Oil in 1993.

He said the changes he has seen since starting in the business have been amazing. “Today’s convenience store owner has many more challenges than when he started and one must be constantly working to grow and improve their business,” which was one of the reasons John decided to exit the retail business, which would allow him more time to focus on the fuel side of the petroleum business going forward.

John is a past chairman of the Wisconsin Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association and presently serves as the Wisconsin director of The Petroleum Marketers Association of America board of directors. He remains in the fuel distribution business.

Riiser Fuels Holding, LLC is based out of Wausau, WI and over the last 18 months has grown to a total of 67 stores in Wisconsin while continuing to grow.

Baltus Oil was advised in the transaction by Terry Monroe of American Business Brokers & Advisors, Effingham, Ill and Bill Fecht of WJF Services, Inc., Normal, Ill.
