Auburndale softball erupts for 19-run win at Edgar

EDGAR – The Auburndale softball team scored in all five of its at-bats, which included an eight-run fourth inning, and whipped Edgar 20-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Edgar High School.

Auburndale smacked 18 hits, including six doubles, and rolled to the win to complete a season sweep of Edgar in its pair of conference games this week. Auburndale beat Edgar 15-5 on Tuesday.

The Apaches are now 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the Marawood South. Edgar falls to 3-8 and remains winless at 0-6 in conference play.

Hailey Grimm threw a five-inning complete game for Auburndale, allowing just three hits and one walk, while striking out five.

Teryn Lau had a single and two doubles, and drove in three runs to lead the Apaches’ offensive attack.

Carly Willfhart, Georgi Schmutzer, and Abby Koopman each had two hits for Auburndale.

Auburndale is scheduled to play a nonconference game at Chequamegon on Friday.
