Auburndale softball blasts Edgar

AUBURNDALE – Faith Hafermann had three hits and six RBIs to help the Auburndale softball team to a 15-5 win over Edgar in a Marawood Conference South Division game on Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale scored five times in the second inning and six times in the third to take a commanding 11-0 lead. The Apaches finished off the game via the 10-run rule with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Natalie Aue added a double, a home run and two RBIs, and Georgi Schmutzer, Kaitlyn Kundinger and Teryn Lau each had a pair of hits for the Apaches.

Hailey Grimm earned the win, striking out four in five innings.

Auburndale is now 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the Marawood South. Edgar falls to 3-7 and 0-5 in conference play.

The two teams will meet again at Edgar on Thursday.
