AUBURNDALE, WI (OnFocus) – Auburndale Middle/High School was evacuated earlier today due to the discovery of a threat against the safety of students and staff, according to notice from the school.

Administration worked with law enforcement to assess the severity of the threat and mitigate the situation. The threat was deemed not credible.

“When the Administration and Law enforcement are sure that it is safe for students and staff to return to the building we will do so,” they stated. “We will continue to keep you informed of the situation.”

On-scene reports indicate that students are being allowed to re-enter the facilities at this time. The district has confirmed and the school day will continue as normal. More information will go out to families when it is available.

District Administrator James Delikowski said the school worked well with law enforcement to help debunk the threat.

“Wood County Law Enforcement and the school district administration worked very quickly to assess the seriousness [of the threat],” Delikowski said. “The threat was serious enough that we did have to evacuate the building but through the good work of the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and my administration, we were able to find that the threat was not credible.”
