Auburndale girls basketball uses free throws to down Marathon

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team made just enough free throws to pull past Marathon for a 47-40 victory on Friday night at Auburndale High School.

The Apaches shot just 26 percent from the floor (13 of 49) but made 21 of 36 free throws to hold off Marathon and even its record at 9-9 overall (5-7 Marawod Conference South Division).

Hailey Grimm made 8 of 10 free throws and scored a team-high 12 points for Auburndale. Natalie Aue and Marissa Ponshock each added 10 points in the win.

Auburndale has a week off before return to action Feb. 1 at home against Rib Lake.
