ABBOTSFORD – The Auburndale basketball teams swept a boys-girls Marawood Conference crossover doubleheader at Abbotsford on Friday night.

The Auburndale boys cruised 73-51 and the girls won 42-28 in the pair of games at Abbotsford High School.

The boys game opened the twinbill and the Apaches jumped out early on Abbotsford to grab control from the start.

Auburndale (4-1, 4-0 Marawood Conference South Division) led 41-27 at halftime and held the Falcons (1-4, 1-3 Marawood Conference North Division) to just 24 points in the second half, stopping any chance of a comeback.

Auburndale was 12 of 27 from 3-point range, including 7 of 13 from Colton Wright, who finished with a game-high 30 points.

Point guard Cooper Weinfurter added 14 points and seven assists, and Carter Wilcott had 12 points for the Apaches.

Cade Faber scored 14 points and Blake Draper had 13 points for Abbotsford.

Natalie Aue scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Auburndale girls.

The Apaches took an 18-15 lead into halftime before blowing it open with an 11-point advantage in the second half.

Auburndale (3-4, 2-3 Marawood Conference South Division) shot only 36 percent (16 of 44), but Aue was 11 of 14 overall and 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the victory.

Both of the Auburndale teams will be back in action Tuesday. The boys play a Marawood South game at Marathon, while the girls host Nekoosa for a nonconference tilt.
