Auburndale boys basketball blows out Weyauwega-Fremont in home tournament semifinal

AUBURNDALE – Five players scored in double figures as the Auburndale boys basketball team rolled to an 83-38 win over Weyauwega-Fremont in a semifinal of the Auburndale Holiday Tournament on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale built a 39-18 lead by halftime and kept on cruising, putting up 44 more points in the second half on the way to the victory.

Eleven players scored for the Apaches, who improve to 7-1 this season. Weyauwega-Fremont is now 0-9.

Carter Wilcott and Colton Wright each had 14 points and eight rebounds, Cooper Weinfurter added 11 points and seven assists, and Hunter Wright and Fletcher Raab both scored 10 points for Auburndale.

The Apaches shot 49 percent (33-for-67) from the field, and made 11 3-pointers.

Kolden Buchmen was the only Weyauwega-Fremont player to reach double figures, scoring 12 points.

Auburndale will play Augusta in the tournament championship game at 7:45 p.m. Friday night. Augusta beat Loyal 49-48 in the other semifinal.
