Wisconsin Rapids (OnFocus) – For the Assumption Royals, it was Homecoming 2020, and in the early going of their game against Rosholt, it was anything but welcoming for Royals fans. After Rosholt jumped out to a 19-0 lead, Assumption slowly fought back, and edged Rosholt 20-19.
Rosholt’s Isaac Cychosz completed a 70 yard touchdown to Josh Zick and then scored on a 6 yard run to give Rosholt a 13-0 first quarter lead. Another touchdown by the visitors put Assumption in their hole before the Royals turned things around.
With just under 5 minutes to go in the first half, Jack Klatt completed a 17 yard touchdown to Ryan Shaw, and the Royals trailed 19-8 going into halftime.
Klatt scored on a 1 yard run in the third quarter before Reed Duellman tossed a 17 yard touchdown to Ryan Shaw to put Assumption in front.
“Great come from behind victory for our boys!” said Assumption Head Coach Jeff Sullivan.  “I’m so proud of how they kept believing and battled for 4 quarters.”
Assumption’s option offense produced 71 plays, rushing for 302 yards on 62 runs.
Nick Leberg led Assumption with 178 yards on 22 carries.
Cychosz was 8 of 12 for 192 yards for Rosholt.
