Stratford, WI (OnFocus) The Buck-A-Neer Supper Club has brought on well-known local server Ariel Gorst to its ownership team.
Gorst, who has received the Best of Marshfield award for Best Waitress for five consecutive years, started at the supper club in December 2017 and later became bar manager.
“It’s been something I’ve always wanted. I can’t believe that they offered it to me,” she said. “I didn’t have to do anything but continue to work hard.”
Owning a restaurant has been Gorst’s dream since she was a young girl, and she started in the industry at just 14 years old with a job at Hot ‘n Now. She would also spend time at her mother’s office and wait on the secretaries.
“When I went back to school the one year, I wrote a ‘Help Wanted’ sign and her phone number and put it in the window,” said Gorst. “My mom started getting calls for servers. I wanted them to be taken care of while I was at school. My mom was not very happy about that one!”
After gaining years of experience at a variety of local restaurants and bars in and around Marshfield, Gorst is happy with her current position.
“The Buck-A-Neer is probably one of the best jobs I’ve ever had,” she said. “It’s really family oriented. Everybody cares about you and we treat each other equally.”
Gorst has attracted her own group of fans who follow her to each restaurant she works at, and she’s grown to know them well.
“It’s not just customers. You get close with a lot of people, and you learn their names,” she said. “You start doing barbecues with them, and you become really good friends. It’s like a second family.”
Diners will have more opportunities to get to know Gorst as she will be spending more time in the dining room and taking on additional responsibilities as an owner.
The Buck-A-Neer Supper Club can be visited on County Rd C in Stratford.
