Antigo blanks Marshfield baseball

MARSHFIELD – Antigo pitcher Neil Bretl held Marshfield to five hits and tossed a complete-game shutout as the Red Robins topped Marshfield 4-0 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Reeths Field.

Antigo managed to score twice in the fourth inning, and added single tallies in the sixth and seventh frames to secure the win and improve to 9-1 overall this season. Marshfield falls to 8-7.

Eli Fleischmann went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Logan Doering and Nevin Cornelios each had two hits for Antigo.

Isaiah Baierl and Ryan Krueger both had two hits for the Tigers.

Will Voss took the loss for Marshfield, allowing three runs and nine hits in six innings.

Bretl finished with two strikeouts and two walks in the complete game effort.

Marshfield hosts Chippewa Falls for a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.
