Ali Luedtke Selected as Parks and Recreation Volunteer of the Year

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Ali Luedtke was honored as the Parks and Recreation Volunteer of the Year.

The award was presented to Ali during the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Committee meeting on Dec. 11.

“She’s been volunteering for many, many years, and when she’s not volunteering, she’s working for the betterment of the community,” said Parks and Recreation Director Justin Casperson.

“I am extremely proud that the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Committee is able to honor a fellow committee member as the 2019 Volunteer of the Year,” said John White, chair. “Ali works extraordinarily hard using her talents to positively impact the lives of so many in our community. Simply put, her tireless efforts enhance the quality of life in our community and we, as a committee, are very thankful.”

“I had a community support me growing up and support me as a wife and mother, and so I wanted to give back when I can,” she said.

Born and raised in Marshfield, Ali currently works part-time helping to combat childhood hunger as a coordinator for the United Way Nutrition on Weekends program, which served 551 children during the 2018-19 school year.

She spearheaded the successful Family Fun Open Gym events at the Oak Avenue Community Center starting in 2017 as a way to connect the community and give kids an opportunity to play. The event collects food items as admission to donate to Soup or Socks food pantry.

Her passion, as an avid runner, is working with young athletes on the girl’s high school track and field team. She’s also excited for the new track facility which will be completed for the upcoming season.

Ali also serves her time on many boards and committees, including the Chestnut Center for the Arts Board of Directors, Marshfield Tennis Association Board, Parks, Recreation and Forestry Committee, Friends of the Marshfield Public Library, and the Marshfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

As president of the Marshfield Tennis Association, Ali was heavily involved in taking over management of the indoor tennis courts at the former City Hall from the City in order to keep the option open to the community. At the Wildwood Zoo, she helped implement and manage a Little Free Library.

She was also involved in the new library and community center project, completed in 2016, and the Alumni Committee for the district athletic facilities improvements. On Sundays, she teaches Sunday school at St. Peter’s Church.

When not volunteering, Ali enjoys spending time with husband Len, a teacher and assistant varsity football coach at the Marshfield High School, and children Lucy, Audrey, LeeAnn, and Axel. Together they watch and participate in many sporting events, and enjoy using biking and walking trails.
