Soldier Quenten Burnett made a lunchtime visit to Spencer Elementary Friday to surprise two young members of his family.
The girls jumped up and ran to hug him, tears in their eyes.
“It’s been a pretty rough couple of months of Basic and AIT, so just seeing them warms your heart,” he said. “It was just mind-racing.”
The visit was set up by his dad and stepmom with support from the school principal. Burnett enlisted in August and was shipped to basic training in Fort Jackson in South Carolina on September 11 this year. His visit will last two weeks, and then he will finish AIT at Fort Lee in Virginia before being assigned a duty station.
