Stratford boys basketball snags road win at Edgar

EDGAR – Stratford shot 51 percent from the field and drilled six 3-pointers as it pull away to beat Edgar 58-45 in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Friday night at Edgar High School.

The Tigers (3-0 overall and Marawood South) made 22 of 43 shots from the floor, including 6-for-12 from 3-point range. Edgar drops to 2-1 and 1-1 in the Marawood South.

Chandler Schmidt made three of the Tigers’ 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead Stratford in scoring. He also had six rebounds and a pair of steals.

Vaughn Breit had 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Ben Barten added 13 points and eight rebounds in the victory. Lance Heidmann chipped in 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, for the Tigers.

Edgar’s statistics were not reported.

Stratford’s next game is Thursday at Prentice in a Marawood crossover.
