Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library Hosting Presentation by Chad Schooley on Long Range Master Plan for Powers Bluff County Park

In 2003, the Wood County Park and Forestry Department began developing a Long Range Master Plan for Powers Bluff County Park. The Plan’s Mission Statement is: Powers Bluff County Park is a unique natural, cultural, and recreational resource. The long-term vision is to protect it for future generations of Wood County residents so they may enjoy the park for years to come.

On Monday, September 25 at 6:00pm in the JP Adler Program Room, the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library will be hosting the Director of the Wood County Parks and Forestry Department, Chad Schooley, for a presentation on the Powers Bluff Development Project.

“People should attend this event to find out more regarding the future development plans for Powers Bluff County Park. These plans include development of several different outdoor recreation facilities and amenities including: construction of a multi-use shelter building, single track biking, cross country skiing, fishing, ice skating, hiking, and natural and cultural preservation.

With Powers Bluff holding significant potential for the area, Schooley encourages area residents to take an active interest in the project and plan.

“Like the other Wood County Parks already in existence, this development project will provide quality outdoor recreational opportunities to Wood County residents, and their visitors, for generations to come,” he said. “With these improvements, Powers Bluff will become a regional destination for those pursuing places to hold events, as well as those seeking the various recreational opportunities that it will provide.”

On Monday, Schooley will share the progress of the plan and more information about how to get involved.

The capital campaign for this project is projected to run through 2018. Wood County is seeking to fund this project with a combination of grants, foundation contributions, and community donations.

Those seeking more information can contact the Wood County Parks and Forestry Office, or go to their website explaining the project and fundraising.
