Spencer baseball rallies to beat Gilman, improves to 4-0

GILMAN – The Spencer baseball team gave up a four-run lead, but responded with a four-run sixth inning and went on to beat Gilman 8-6 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Gilman High School.

Spencer led 4-0 after 4½ innings before the Pirates scored six times in the bottom of the fifth. The Rockets rebounded with a four-run sixth to regain the lead and they held on from there.

Tanner Kleinschmidt earned the win with three innings of relief, striking out two.

Austin Bacon, Carson Hildebrandt, Brett Kasch and Dominic Post each had two hits, with Kasch driving in a pair of runs for Spencer.

The Rockets remain undefeated this season, improving to 4-0 overall and in the Cloverbelt East.

Spencer plays at Neillsville on Monday and at Granton on Tuesday.
