Prescription Drug Take-Back Event to be Held Oct. 26

Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) A Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26.

A 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health revealed that 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs, most of which were obtained from someone they knew from the home medicine cabinet.

The event aims to combat drug addiction, prevent overdose deaths, and protect the environment from improper disposal. In Marshfield, items can be taken to Walmart at 2001 N. Central Ave. from 10-2 p.m.

Participants are allowed to bring in the following items:

• Prescriptions (controlled and non-controlled)
• Over-the-counter medications
• Creams
• Inhalers
• Needles/sharps
• Non-aerosol sprays
• Liquids (in original container)
• Ointments
• Patches
• Pet medications
• Vials

Participants should not bring:

• Aerosol cans
• Bio-hazardous materials (bodily fluid or blood)
• Household hazardous waste
• Illegal drugs
• Mercury thermometers
• Nitroglycerin
• Oxygen tanks/Nebulizers
• Radioactive cancer medications
• Personal Care products
