The Sports Den Lends Services to Clinic, Upcoming Children’s Festival

May is Bike to Work month, and Marshfield Clinic employees have a convenient way to ‘Prep-to-Ride’ their bikes for the challenge.

The Sports Den is partnering with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) Cycling Club on April 16 to arrange service for Clinic employees. From 7-9 a.m. employees can check in their bikes at the Bike Shelter, where they will then be transported back to the Sports Den for service.

“The concept behind it is that there’s not enough hours in the day the way it is, so we’re just trying to make things more convenient for people that work during particular business hours,” explained Breanna VanDehey, Sales Manager. “They don’t necessarily have the time or means to get the bike to us, so we hope to eliminate one of those hurdles.”

The Sports Den will communicate with the bike owner on repair costs before completion and plans to have all of the bikes finished within a week or two, just in time for May. Owners can pick up the bikes at The Sports Den or else arrange to have it transported back to the Clinic for $10.

Employees do not have to ride their bikes to work that day to be eligible for the service. The bike service form can be found at this link, with the opportunity to register the bike with the Police Department in case of theft. Refreshments and fitness information will be set up by Wellness @Work, as well as information about the MCHS Bike Share program. Win the chance to get the tune-up paid for by completing a Health Assessment.

The Sports Den will also be present at the Bike Rodeo for Grades K-6 during the Children’s Festival April 14. “The idea is to get kids to learn bicycle safety techniques: proper signaling, how to ride safely with vehicles, helmet safety, and bike riding safety,” said VanDehey. They will complete minor adjustments on kids bikes and give estimates on repairs.
