Two Firefighters received minor Injuries on Scene

January 27, 2020 at approximately 8:53am Richfield Rural Fire Dept was dispatched to 9050 Ader Ln, Town of Richfield, Wood County, for a large two story shed that was on fire.

Upon arrival firefighters found a 30′ x 40′ two story barn style wood framed structure with metal siding with heavy smoke emitting for the entry doors.

A MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Box Alarm was requested for more assistance along with some mutual aid requests for manpower. Fire Departments assisting Richfield were Arpin, Cameron, Rock, Vesper, Hewitt Area, Pittsville, Lincoln, Spencer and Stratford Fire Departments. Additional assistance was provided by Wood County Central Rapid Intervention Team, Wood County Highway Department and Wood County Dispatch Center.

The building suffered extensive interior damage and the contents suffered severe smoke and heat damage. Two firefighters received minor injuries while on scene. One was injured by snow falling off the roof onto the firefighter and one was struck in the wrist by something that fell from the second story of the structure while performing interior operations. Both firefighters were assessed on scene and sent to Marshfield Medical Center for further assessment via personal vehicle.

Homeowners were home at the time of the fire and were not injured or displaced as a result of the fire.

Fire units cleared the scene at 12:31pm.

The cause is under investigation currently.
