Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) A 22-year old mother being charged with the homicide of her newborn baby was seeking medical treatment on April 6 in Marshfield when staff became concerned about the child’s whereabouts.

Recognizing signs that mother Marylinn Feher had recently given birth, medical staff alerted the Wood County Sheriff’s Department at 10:11 a.m. that the child was unaccounted for and might be missing. Based on the extent of the mother’s injuries, concern was raised that the child might have injuries as well.

Feher gave birth at a private residence in the Village of Milladore during the early morning hours but the child was not taken in for treatment or care of his injuries.

Wood County Deputies and Marshfield Police Department officers located a vehicle in the medical center parking lot which was operated by a male later discovered to be the child’s father, 19 year-old Allen Rice. The newborn child was discovered wrapped in a bath towel inside a plastic garbage bag in the back seat, and had been so during the three hours the mother sought treatment.

The child was rushed to the emergency department and revived temporarily before succumbing to his injuries. Feher and Rice were taken into custody on charges of Child Neglect – Causing Death. A homicide charge is being requested against the mother.
