Marshfield Junior Legion sweeps twinbill over Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Post 54 Junior Legion baseball team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Rapids on Monday night at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield won 10-0 and 14-3, winning both games in five innings due to the 10-run rule.

In the opener, pitcher Mason Pavloski was on top of his game. He threw a five-inning complete game, allowing just one hit and did not walk a batter while striking out three.

Marshfield scored two runs in each of the first three innings and finished off the game with a four-run fifth.

Nick Urban had two hits and two RBIs, Riley Bauman drove in three runs, and Trey Montalvo had a pair of RBIs for Marshfield in the win.

In Game 2, Marshfield scored eight times in the first inning and rolled to the win.

Cody Donahue had two singles and four RBIs, and Bauman had a double, a triple and three RBIs for Marshfield. Montalvo added two RBIs in the victory.

Marshfield returns to action with a doubleheader at Merrill on Wednesday.
