Marshfield Junior Legion cruises to pair of wins at home tournament

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team finished off a perfect 3-0 record at its annual home tournament by winning a pair of games Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.

Marshfield whipped Neenah St. Mary’s 15-1 and Chippewa Falls 5-1 to improve its season record to 16-3 and extend its winning streak to four.

In the opener against St. Mary’s, Marshfield scored three runs in the first inning, added six more in the second and plated five in the third to open up a 14-0 lead.

The Blue Devils finished off the game via the 10-run rule after five innings.

Cody Donahue tossed a complete-game one-hitter, striking out four.

Mason Pavloski and Ky Swanson each had three hits for Marshfield, which had 15 in all.

Chase Higgins and Will Fetting each had three RBIs, and Trey Montalvo, Pavloski and Logan Homolka all knocked in a pair for the Blue Devils.

In the second game against Chippewa Falls, Marshfield scored four times in the top of the fourth to break open a scoreless game and held on from there.

Pavloski threw four innings to earn the win and Homolka finished up the final three innings to earn the save for Marshfield.

Parker Weik went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Homolka and Montalvo each had two hits in the victory.

Marshfield hosts Plover for a doubleheader on Monday starting at 5:30 p.m.
