MARSHFIELD – Gracie Holland and Emma Haugen finished first and second in each of the four events to help lift the Marshfield gymnastics team to another team scoring record and a 137.25-117.575 victory over Antigo on Tuesday night at Marshfield High School.

Holland won the balance beam with a score of 9.17, the uneven bars with a 9.5, the floor exercise with a 9.4, and the vault with a 9.55 to finish with an all-around score of 37.625.

Haugen was second in the all-around with 35.175 points as she finished behind her teammate, Holland, in each event.

Haugen was second in the beam (8.675), the bars (8.3), the floor (9.3) and the vault (8.9).

Marshfield also placed third in the three events – Shantel Nienast in the bean (8.05), Ally Baake in the floor (8.7), and Kim Backaus in the vault (8.675).

“We upped our school team record by almost two points,” Marshfield coach Allie Dryer said. “We had set the goal of team score of 136 this season and surpassed it by a lot tonight. I think their loss at SPASH last week fueled them as they made big improvements tonight on beam and floor.

“This 137.275 is new school record. We again are setting the bar higher. Emma had an especially fantastic night tonight topping her personal beats on floor and all around.”

Marshfield’s next meet is Jan. 24 when the Tigers host a quadrangular meet with Arcadia, Tomah and Westby.
