Marshfield girls second, boys third at Wisconsin Rapids Cross Country Invite

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield cross country teams wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a strong finish at the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational on Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course, home of the WIAA state meet in a few weeks.

The Marshfield girls finished second and the boys were third in the team standings.

Stevens Point won both the girls and boys team titles.

Eliana Kanitz was fifth in the girls race to lead Marshfield, finishing in 19:56. Bailey Bauer was 13th (21:07), Meghan Jaeger took 17th (21:26), and Kairi Kim was 18th (21:33) to give the Tigers four top-20 finishes.

Joseph McKee finished fifth in 16:31 and Joshua McKee took ninth in 16:39 to lead the Marshfield boys.

Hannah Wilcox-Borg of Tomahawk won the girls race in 19:37 and Adam Rzentkowski of Rosholt won the boys race in 15:42.

Marshfield will compete at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at Nine Mile Recreation Area in Rib Mountain next Saturday, Oct. 13.
