Marshfield girls basketball rallies past Merrill

MERRILL – The Marshfield girls basketball team overcame a four-point halftime deficit to beat Merrill 64-52 in Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday night at Merrill High School.

The Tigers trailed 31-27 at halftime before outscoring Merrill 37-21 the rest of the way.

Marshfield is now 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, while Merrill drops to 8-8 and 2-7 in conference play.

Maddie Michaelis drilled six of 10 3-point attempts for all of her 18 points, and Jenna Jakobi led all Tigers with 20 points in the victory.

Bailey Boushack chipped in 12 points for Marshfield.

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Monday, a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 22 but was postponed due to bad weather. The game is part of a girls-boys doubleheader, with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys game to follow. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.

Marshfield will also play at home Tuesday against D.C. Everest at 7:15 p.m.
