Flag Repair Provides Training Opportunity for Fire Department

Two members of Marshfield Fire and Rescue arrived at the World’s Largest Round Barn Tuesday in order to do repairs to the flagpole and replace the flag which flies on top.

1st District Alderman and veteran Mike Feirer had the idea to bring in the department and asked Chief Scott Owen at last Tuesday’s Common Council meeting if Owen would like training opportunity for his crew. The day after Memorial Day, firefighters and paramedics Steve Annen and Jon Altman arrived to do the job using their newest fire truck.

Annen took fair board member Scott Karl up in the “bucket” while Altmann and Chief Owen controlled the ladder, a safer method of replacing the flag than the usual method of propping a ladder against the roof and climbing up.
