Marshfield boys soccer ties Wausau West in WVC finale

WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys soccer team wrapped up its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule with a 1-1 tie at Wausau West on Thursday.

Following a scoreless first half, West scored first on a goal from Kyle Durr at the 58:31 mark.

Kyle Tremelling tied it for the Tigers, on an assist from Sam Roherty, in the 67th minute, and neither team would score during the final 23 minutes.

Tommy Olson had four saves in goal for Marshfield, which is 9-6-3 overall and finishes with a 6-3-3 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Marshfield hosts Onalaska in a nonconference game at 11 a.m. Saturday at Griese Park.

West is now 7-4-5 and 5-3-3 in the WVC. The Warriors play at first-place Stevens Point to finish their regular season on Saturday.

The WIAA will announce the playoff brackets this weekend. Marshfield will play a Division 2 regional semifinal on Oct. 18.
