WAUPACA – Waupaca scored five unanswered goals and Marshfield could not rebound, dropping a nonconference boys hockey game to the Comets 6-3 on Tuesday night at the Waupaca Expo Center.

Marshfield took the early lead on a goal by Ben Lawyer just 2:57 into the game, but from there it was all Waupaca.

The Comets scored three goals in a 5-minute stretch of the first period and added two goals in the first 6½ minutes of the second, to take a 5-1 lead.

Sawyer Schindler scored near the end of the second period and Isaac Wellens added a goal early in the third, but that would be all the Tigers could muster.

Cody Rasmussen and Mitchell Trzebiatowski each hit for a hat trick for Waupaca (13-3-1).

Marshfield (12-6) returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference action Thursday at home against Wisconsin Rapids. The game at the Marshfield Ice Arena begins at 7 p.m.
