Residents Report Buildings Shaking

Waupaca County, Wis On July 21, 2018 the United States Geological (USGS) confirmed reports of earthquakes approximately 7.5 miles north of Iola, WI in northwest Waupaca County. Waupaca County Emergency Management received reports last week of buildings shaking and rumbling noises from area residents.

The USGS identified an earthquake occurred on July 7 at 2:35 pm local time with a magnitude Of 1.3 and July 15th at 01:39 am local time with a magnitude of 1.5 at a depth of less than 5 km. Other reported earthquakes may have been too small to detect. The USGS and Waupaca County Emergency Management will continue to investigate other reports in the area. There have been no reports of damage to structures.

The last confirmed earthquake in Waupaca County was in March Of 2012 near Clintonville, WI.
