City Named “Tree City USA” for 36th Consecutive Year

Early this morning, students from Nasonville Elementary learned all about how to plant a tree, thanks to the City of Marshfield’s Arbor Day celebration. Students were bussed to the storm water detention basin along Yellowstone Dr., across from the Marshfield Agricultural Research Station. There, Mayor Bob McManus, DNR Urban Forestry Coordinator Don Kissinger, Assistant Street Superintendent Matt Hawley, and ISA Certified Arborist and City Street Division employee Tim Rasmussen.

“My goal for Arbor Day this year was to involve a group of students that may live in rural wooded areas just outside of town and allow them to see the importance of Urban trees to the City and its residents,” said Rasmussen. “Their involvement with planting bare root trees for the City on Arbor Day will help give them insight on proper planting techniques and will also increase the benefits and beatification of Marshfield.”
