On February 27 at approximately 2:21 p.m., Richfield Rural Fire Department was dispatched to SV Pallet at 8128 State Highway 80, Town of Richfield, Wood County, for a boiler building that was on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a 40′ x 50′ wood framed structure with metal siding and roof that had flames and smoke emitting from the roof peak. A MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Box Alarm was requested for more manpower.

Fire departments assisting Richfield were Arpin, Cameron, Rock, Vesper, Hewitt Area, Pittsville, and Lincoln. Additional assistance was provided by Marshfield Ambulance, Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Wood County Dispatch Center.

The building suffered major damage with most of the damage to the roof peak area of the structure. Fire was extinguished rather quickly but overhaul took awhile to remove the metal from the roof to make sure there wasn’t any further fire extension.

There were no injuries and SV Pallet is expected to resume normal operations on Friday. Fire units cleared the scene at 5:22 p.m.

The cause of the fire is undetermined but not suspicious in nature.
