Auburndale softball splits two at home tournament

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale softball split a pair of games at its home Auburndale Invitational on Saturday.

The Apaches lost to Amherst 15-5 and defeated Necedah 11-2, and are now 10-4 this season.

Amherst (11-4) scored 11 times in the first three innings to open an 11-0 lead.

Natalie Aue and Maggie Willfahrt each had three hits, and Willfaht drove in three of Auburndale’s five runs in the loss.

Auburndale scored six times in the top of the first inning on its way to the win over Necedah (8-7).

Willfahrt earned the win with a complete-game effort, striking out three.

Jenna Snortheim and Hailey Grimm each had three RBIs, and Mackenzie Raab had three hits and scored twice for the Apaches.

Auburndale wraps up its regular season and Marawood Conference South Division schedule with games at Wausau Newman Catholic on Monday and at home against Stratford on Tuesday. With a pair of wins, the Apaches would earn at least a share of the conference title.
