Area Schools to Discuss Response to Drug Trends in Youth

Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth and Marshfield Clinic Health System To Share Info on Drug Trends in Schools

OnFocus – Marshfield Area Parent Network (MAPN) is holding an event Monday, April 23, “School Response to Drug Trends,” presented by school psychologist staff from Marshfield School District and Columbus Catholic Schools and Marshfield Police school resource officer Matt Berres.

Join Marshfield Clinic Health System and Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth (MACY) in collaboration with Unified School District of Marshfield and Columbus Catholic Schools for this event from 5-7 p.m. at the Marshfield High School, Auditorium, 1401 E. Becker Road, Marshfield.

Marshfield School District and Columbus Catholic Schools will share information about drug trends in the schools and how each district is responding. This presentation will include a brief review of 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) results and Activity Code of Conduct, substance use prevention curriculum and program information, the role of school resource officers, signs to watch for if you suspect your child is using, and effects of certain drugs on brain development.

Attendees also will learn about the Marshfield and Columbus Leadership Alliance, a group of dedicated students working to decrease substance use and mental health disparities and promote a positive school environment. Enjoy a free meal provided by M & M Catering.
