Convoy Funds 55 Wishes and Counting!

An idea that started with five trucks twenty-one years ago is growing strong. In fact, this year’s convoy was the largest with 119 vehicles. The previous record was 105.

“This year was one of the biggest and loudest yet,” said Dan Oliver, event participant.

According to event organizers, The Make-A-Wish Truck Convoy has raised $272,296.46 for the Wisconsin Make-A-Wish Foundation since its inception two decades earlier. The event starts in Neillsville, travels through Marshfield, and rounds back to the Clark County Fairgrounds, where the convoy then includes a silent auction.

The Maw Truck Convoy has sponsored 55 wishes in its first 20 years. Joining the convoy this year was Loyal resident Lincoln Schrock, a 3 ½ year-old boy who is fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. Lincoln, recently became an honorary Marshfield Fire Fighter.

In May, Make-A-Wish granted Lincoln’s Wish. Lincoln, loves camping so providing the family with their very camper was a wish come true. Lincoln’s parents, Matt and Kaitlin Schrock, said, “Make-A-Wish went above and beyond in making Lincoln’s wish come true. He is so excited about all the adventures he can go on. His wish will keep on coming true with each trip.”

Throughout the route, people line the streets to support the cause. Local Police and State Patrol help direct traffic along the route. Every year local agencies help make the event a success.

“It was a struggle at first, however now they are calling us to help get involved,” said founding organizer Punk Montgomery. “Our goal is to make the kids smile.”

With that goal in mind, the event continues to grow year after year. With your entry and donation, you can help the convoy reach its goal. For more information on future events, follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/maw.truckconvoy
